Supplier Reduced Prices for Shipments, Spot Premiums/Discounts Weakened [SMM North China Spot Copper]

In North China, #1 copper cathode spot prices against the front-month contract ranged from a discount of 220 to 180 yuan/mt, with an average discount of 200 yuan/mt, down 30 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. The transaction price was 81,150-81,520 yuan/mt, with an average of 81,335 yuan/mt, up 65 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.

SMM March 21 News: Spot prices of #1 copper cathode in North China against the front-month contract ranged from a discount of 220 yuan/mt to 180 yuan/mt, with an average discount of 200 yuan/mt, down 30 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. The transaction price was 81,150-81,520 yuan/mt, with an average of 81,335 yuan/mt, up 65 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. As month-end approached, suppliers faced inventory pressure, and downstream acceptance at high copper prices was not ideal. Suppliers had no choice but to lower prices to sell, leading to weaker spot premiums and discounts.

Price Difference Between High And Medium-Grade Iron Ore Expanded

The price difference between high and medium-grade ore expanded last week, while that between medium and low-grade ore narrowed. At Qingdao port, the price difference between mainstream high-grade ore (IOCJ fines) and medium-grade ore (PB fines) widened 9 yuan/mt to 93 yuan/mt, while that between mainstream medium-grade ore (PB fines) and low-grade ore (super special fines or SSF) shrank 8 yuan/mt to 135 yuan/mt.
